ALEA

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) issued a statement on April 9 to clear up rumors regarding whether Alabama’s state lines are being closed off during Gov. Kay Ivey’s “stay at home” order.

According to a news release, ALEA has been flooded with a number of questions regarding a rumor that law enforcement will set up checkpoints at the state lines or ban motorists from entering the state. That rumor is untrue.

“These are rumors,” ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor said. “ALEA State Troopers continue to patrol roadways daily to promote public safety and to enforce the law. There are no plans to shut down our state borders.”

There was no mention of the borders being closed or motorists banned from entering the state in Ivey’s April 3 “stay at home” order. To read the entire order visit, https://governor.alabama.gov/assets/2020/04/Final-Statewide-Order-4.3.2020.pdf
