The Enterprise Wildcats (6-4) and rival Dothan Tigers met for the first time on the basketball court since old Dothan High and Northview merged last year, and the Wildcats secured a 56-54 win on Tuesday, Dec. 10.

With less than six seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Enterprise junior Josh McCray knocked down one-of-two free throws to give Enterprise the 56-54 led.

Dothan corralled the rebound off the second attempt and attempted a last-second three-pointer at the buzzer but it came up short and sent the jam-packed Wildcat Arena into a frenzy.

McCray led Enterprise with a career-high 23 points to go along with five rebounds, two assists and three steals.

Sophomore Quentin Hayes chipped in with 13 points, six rebounds and two steals, while Dominic York scored eight points.

Enterprise shot 20-of-55 from the field, while Dothan hit 22-of-59 field goal attempts. Enterprise also shot 8-of-15 from the free throw line compared to Dothan’s 5-of-16.

Both teams forced 21 turnovers each and Dothan outrebounded Enterprise 48-33.

Dothan was led by Jabre Barber with 17 points, while Dylan Glover had 10 points and James Pouncy had 12 points.

The Lady Cats (2-5) also battled with the Lady Tigers on Dec. 10 with Dothan coming out on top 45-36, lifted by a big second half.

Enterprise was led by Lay Lay McClain with 17 points in the loss. Alayna Dean added four points. Dothan’s Alexis Hudgens had 18 points and Amiyah Rollins had eight points.

The JV Tigers also edged out the JV Wildcats 32-31 after knocking down a layup at the buzzer.
