We’ve reached the month of November, which marks the start of a busy holiday season.
Families begin to come together, menus are being prepared if they haven’t been already, and Black Friday plans are being made.
Still, with all the hustle and bustle of life that usually becomes more prevalent around this time of the year, we don’t take time to appreciate what this month offers us — a chance to just be thankful.
This month starts out with a day in which all Americans should be pouring our thanks on to those who rightly deserve it — Veterans Day.
This is a time to remember those who gave as much as they could for your sake and theirs.
It’s a time to especially recognize those who chose to give their all so that you could have a chaotic holiday season where decorations come out in stores too early and your thoughts are already on Christmas gifts for the family.
Remember to take time to thank a veteran, even if it’s just a silent prayer to God for what they gave.
This doesn’t just have to happen on a designated day, either. Feel free to do this at any time this month or even the entire year.
I believe, though, that this will be easy for everyone here in the Wiregrass area, which is so influenced by Fort Rucker.
Following Veterans Day is one of the big ones, Thanksgiving.
The chaos that can happen on this day and the days leading up to it is not something I would wish on my worst enemy.
Still, for the sake of seeing family, I would deal with it all again and again without a problem.
Also, I would deal with it for the delicious food. I obviously couldn’t forget about the food.
Again, this day should not just be one filled with turkey and dressing, chaos and traveling to see family. It’s a day that offers us an opportunity to see just how blessed we really are.
I encourage you to tell you’re family or your friends what you are thankful for this Thanksgiving. Encourage them to do the same.
If you don’t want to do it publicly or out loud, I promise you the Good Lord appreciates all the thanks He gets. Throw up a silent prayer to Him.
Remember to take a moment this month to just breathe and be thankful. It can help anyone handle the chaos and put a different perspective on things.
Just to encourage you all, I’m thankful to have the opportunity to meet new people almost daily through my job. Every single person is important, and they each have an interesting story, whether they believe it or not.
I’m also thankful for you readers. Keep being awesome.
