A nine-year-old Ashbury Community boy died in a drowning accident Sunday, May 6.
Dale County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Mason Bynum said that Aaron Hamm drowned after wandering away from his home and entering a neighbor’s swimming pool.
Bynum said that at approximately 6 p.m. deputies responded to North County Road 59 in the Asbury Community in Dale County in reference to a drowning.
“Deputies arrived and initiated CPR until Ozark Emergency Medical Services arrived,” Bynum said, adding that the child was transported to Dale Medical Center and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The case is ongoing but in the preliminary investigation it appears that the child wandered away from his residence and entered a neighbors swimming pool, according to Bynum.
“The Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our condolences to the victim’s family during this difficult time,” he said.
