Madison Meeks

Lady Gamecock Madison Meeks (27) slammed a double in the sixth inning to score a run in the comeback win for New Brockton over Highland Home.

New Brockton grabbed the lead in the sixth inning over Highland Home and won 8-7 on March 22 despite letting the Lady Flying Squadron plate five runs in the top of the first inning and add a run each in the next two innings.

New Brockton fought back scoring two runs in the bottom of the first, one run in the bottom of the third, fourth and fifth innings before earning the win with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Keirsten Sunday led off the sixth with a single, a stolen base and a run after Madison Meeks hit a double to center field. With two outs Shelby Hobbs hit a fly ball and reached base on an error then advanced to second on the same error and Meeks scored to tie things up 7-7. Megan Eldridge then doubled to score Hobbs and that was all the Lady Gamecocks needed to win 8-7.

Kallie Qualls led off on the mound for the Lady Gamecocks pitching one-third of an inning giving up four runs on two hits. Sunday came on in relief and pitched one-third of an inning giving up one run on one hit. Kennedy Hussey then came out of the bullpen to pitch two and one-third innings giving up two runs on one hit with two strikeouts. Jordyn Thornton closed out the final four innings giving up one hit and no runs with three strikeouts.

Sunday, Meeks, Eldridge and Hobbs all led at the plate going 3-for-4 with each hitting a double along with Thornton.

New Brockton had 19 hits and three errors in the game while Highland Home had five hits and one error.

New Brockton 13, Goshen 3

The Lady Gamecocks had an easy win over Goshen on March 21 after leading the game off with three runs in the bottom of the first and coasting to a 13-3 victory. New Brockton scored in every inning with one run in the second, one run in the third, four runs in the fourth and four runs in the bottom of the fifth to put the game away.

Thornton pitched a complete game for New Brockton going five innings with three runs scored on three hits and eight strikeouts.

Lizzy Everts led at the plate going 3-for-4 with a double scoring three runs and 2 RBIs. Sunday went 2-for-3 scoring three runs and 2 RBIs while Meeks went 2-for-4 scoring one run and 4 RBIs and Hobbs went 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs. Anna Blackmon hit a triple for the Lady Gamecocks while Thornton had a double.

New Brockton had 13 hits and no errors in the game while Goshen had three hits and no errors.
