Lady Cats

Kaden Taylor and the Lady Cats earned region wins over Dothan and Jeff Davis this week. 

The Enterprise Lady Cats hosted the 11th Annual Enterprise Invitational on Sept. 19 and Dothan’s Providence Christian came away as the tournament champions defeating Prattville Christian in the championship round.

The Lady Cats earned wins against G.W. Long, Houston Academy and Smiths Station before falling to Central-Phenix city and eventual runner-up Prattville Christian.

Enterprise beat Long 25-22 and 25-23 and knocked off Houston Academy 25-15 and 26-24. The Lady Cats beat Smiths Station 25-11 and 25-21 before losing to Central 24-26 and 25-21. Enterprise fell to Prattville Christian 17-25 but won the second set 25-23 before dropping the final set 15-8.

Kamira Cooper led Enterprise with 40 kills, while Sammie Neuwein had 89 assists, 26 digs and 13 aces. Lily Rhoades chipped in with 53 digs and Hanna Chang had 23 kills and 11 blocks. Maggie Haynes also earned eight aces and 18 digs during the tournament.

Providence Christian earned wins over Brewbaker Tech, Prattville Christian, Dothan and Opp before making it to the semifinals where the Lady Eagles defeated Brewbaker Tech 25-10 and 25-9. Providence Christian then defeated Prattvilel Christian 25-21 and 25-17 in the championship round.

The Lady Cats followed up the Enterprise Invitational by picking up area wins over Dothan and Jeff Davis on Sept. 23. The Lady Cats won both matches 3-0 and defeating Dothan 25-18, 25-19 and 25-13 in each set and knocking off Jeff Davis 25-9, 25-11 and 25-11.

Against Dothan, Neuwien led the way with five aces and 16 assists, while Rhoades had four aces and nine digs. Kamira Cooper contributed nine kills and both Jaden Williams and Taylor Danford had seven kills each.

Rhoades led Enterprise against Jeff Davis with six aces and six digs, while Cooper and Danford had seven kills each. Neuwien chipped in with nine assists and Heather Holtz had seven assists.

The Enterprise JV also beat Dothan 25-12 and 25-15 with Jayden Williams earning four aces and Makenna Kennedy totaling three aces. Emma Warren and Aziya Purcell also had five digs each.

The EHS Freshman team earned a 2-0 win over Coppinville but lost to Dauphin Junior High 2-0. The Lady Cat Freshmen beat Coppinville 25-16 and 25-12 in each set, while dropping both sets to Dauphin 25-21 and 25-12.

Ella Little led the freshmen with four aces, while Annalynn Hanson had four kills and Karis Snell had 21 digs.
