AHSAA

While high schools around the state are remaining open for the time being, the Alabama High School Athletic Association released a statement on March 13 giving guidance on how to handle upcoming athletic events.

The AHSAA’s news release states that the Alabama Department of Public Health has recommended that all events “with 500 or more in attendance outside of the school’s student body should be cancelled or limited to the recommended number.”

The AHSAA said that all spring sports tournaments and playoffs are currently scheduled to go on as planed.

The AHSAA also said that any team or school making the choice to not play during the COVID-19 pandemic will not be saddled with a forfeit loss.

While the majority of high school sports across the state will continue to play there have been some cancellations, as well. The varsity boys soccer tournament schedule to be held in Prattville in which Enterprise was going to compete has been cancelled as well as the track and field meet scheduled in Troy on March 13. There have been no local sports cancellations thus far.
