Coffee County BoE

One of the items on the agenda for the Coffee County Board of Education’s called meeting on April 23 was the approval of Holli Richardson as New Brockton Elementary Probationary Principal.

Richardson – a Kinston High graduate – served as assistant principal at New Brockton Elementary alongside former principal Jason Hadden who resigned in March. Richardson was approved as probationary principal by a unanimous vote.

Enterprise assistant football coach Bradley Bowers was approved as Zion Chapel’s new assistant principal, as well.

Also on the agenda was the approval of the bid from Hughes Construction for the Gamecock Stadium improvements to be done over the rest of the spring and summer. Hughes Construction’s $1.173 million bid beat out bids from three other companies.

According to Coffee County Schools Superintendent Kevin Killingsworth, improvements to Gamecock Stadium will include new concession stands, ticket booths and bathrooms. Also, the current visitor side will get completely new bleachers and will become the new home side. Construction is anticipated to begin “as soon as possible.” Killingsworth said there is a chance that some of the construction may not be complete by the time football season rolls around but that it shouldn’t hamper those home games from taking place.

The board also approved several personnel actions a the meeting:

Employments:

Bradley Bowers, assistant principal at Zion Chapel School;

Christie Trawick, reading specialist at Zion Chapel School;

Zachary Lee, custodian at Zion Chapel School;

Retirements:

Deborah Herron, guidance counselor at New Brockton Elementary School;

Debra Jan Murphy, bus driver at New Brockton Schools;

Resignation:

Chelbie Mobley, teacher and coach at New Brockton High School.
