Members of the Enterprise City Board of Education approved the hiring of a new principal for Coppinville Junior High School during a May 29 meeting.

David West is coming to Enterprise from South Dale Middle School in Pinckard where he served as principal for four years.

West is originally from Birmingham and graduated from Homewood High School before spending five years in the military.

West ended his military career at Fort Rucker in 2001 and went on to receive his bachelors and masters degrees in elementary education at Troy University and is currently working on his doctorate.

"Enterprise City Schools is a great place for me to grow personally and professionally and I think Coppinville is a good fit for me," West said. "I'm used to dealing with kids in middle school and seventh grade. It can be a challenge and I look forward to that challenge."

Superintendent Camille Wright welcomed West during the meeting saying she and the board are excited for what the future will bring with West on board as the school's new principal.
