A man has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of the Texaco Gas Station on Roy Parker Road in Ozark.
Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walkers said that Maurice Daquarius Hobdy, 22, was arrested after allegedly robbing the gas station at about 11:30 p.m. Monday, July 9.
Walker said that according to witnesses, Hobdy allegedly entered the store with a handgun and demanded money from the clerk. “After receiving the money the suspect left the store on foot,” Walker said.
The Ozark Police Department and the Dale County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of the Texaco Gas Station. “Once on scene, law enforcement officers took the suspect into custody after a short foot pursuit.”
Walker said that during the course of the investigation law officers learned that the suspect had entered a nearly occupied residence by force to hid out after the alleged robbery. “The occupant of the residence convinced the suspect to leave without harming anyone,” Walker said, adding that Hobdy was arrested shortly after that.
No one was injured during the arrest, Walker said. “Investigators were able to recover the handgun used in the crime and all the money taken from from the store.”
Walker said that video surveillance in multiple areas at and near the store captured Hobdy on tape.
Walker credits the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, the Ozark-Dale County E911 and the Ozark Police Department for the success of the operation.
The case is still under investigation by the Ozark Police Department.
