Identity of body confirmed as missing Daleville girl

A body found near the Dale-Barbour Line on Wednesday, March 6, has been identified as that of a Daleville woman missing since late February.

According to a press release from the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office, a missing persons report was filed with the Daleville Police Department on Monday, Feb. 25, for Orchid Bolin, 22.

A taskforce was then created on Feb. 27 with members from the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, Barbour County Sheriff’s Office, DPD, Ozark Police Department, the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the release stated.

Dale Count Sheriff Wally Olson, Chief Deputy Mason Bynum and Lt. John Crawford led the taskforce.

The release said information from investigation revealed that Bolin was last seen in the company of two older white males possibly in their 40s.

Through interviews and continued investigation, the listed white males were considered persons of interest in Bolin’s disappearance, according to the release.

On Tuesday, March 5, a search warrant was executed on 4580 Highway 51 in Ariton, which was Bolin’s last known confirmed location, the release stated. Evidence collected at the scene confirmed this information.

On Wednesday, March 6, Olsen and Crawford continued investigations, and Bolin’s body was found in a wooded area approximately 500 yards off of Sutton Dairy Road and approximately two miles from Highway 51, the release stated.

The recovery scene was processed by an FBI Evidence Response Team (ERT) unit out of Mobile and the joint task force, according to the release.

The case is an ongoing investigation.
