An Ozark man has been charged with murder in connection with the March 22 shooting death of Joshua R. McNeal of Ozark.
Jeremy A. Spears, 22, of Ozark is in Dale County Jail. No bond has been set.
According to Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walker, the Ozark-Dale County E911 received a call from a resident in the 200 block of Washington Avenue March 22 about an “unresponsive male.”
McNeal, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Walker said McNeal’s body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy and the lab determined the manner of death to be a homicide.
“Over the course of the investigation authorities conducted multiple interviews and recovered multiple pieces of evidence from the crime scene,” Walker said. “Investigators were also able to recover some very important information through law enforcement resources that subsequently led to Spears’ arrest.”
