A man charged with the shooting death of his brother is also charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.

Thomas Michael Goulart, remains in Dale County Jail following his arrest Saturday, Nov. 24, in connection with the shooting death of his brother Chris Goulart, 52.

Daleville Police Chief William Powell confirmed Sunday, Nov. 25, that Chris Goulart, died after being allegedly shot by Thomas Goulart, after an altercation on Richardson Drive Saturday night.

Thomas Goulart remains in Dale County Jail after being arrested on the side of the road near the Richardson Drive residence, according to Powell.

Thomas Goulart is charged with one count of murder, one count of murder in connection with an attempted murder of a law officer and first-degree burglary.

Powell said the incident was a domestic situation between two brothers. Powell told news media representatives that despite some reports, the incident did not involve a "hostage situation."

Multiple law agencies were involved in the incident to include the Daleville Police Department, the Dale County Sheriff's Office, the Houston County Sheriff’s Department and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
