The staff and administration of Daleville City Schools recently celebrated some special people: their National Board Certified Teachers.
There are 25 certificate areas that represent 16 disciplines and four developmental levels for National Board Certification, explained Daleville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Lisa Stamps. “Teachers have to exhibit advanced knowledge and skills and put high standards into practice to become a board-certified teacher.
“All these professionals have renewed their certification,” Stamps said. “We are fortunate to have four staff members in our school system who hold this prestigious certification.”
Stamps said the four who hold National Board Certification are:
• Daleville City Schools Federal Programs Director Christy Kearley, who received her certification as an Exceptional Needs Specialist in 2008;
• Daleville Middle School Special Education Teacher Dr. Stephen Kearley, who received his certification as a Library Media Specialist in 2008;
• Windham Elementary School Principal Carrie Heninger, who received her certification in Social-Studies-History in 2008; and,
• Windham Elementary School Administrative Assistant Roberta Bronson, who received her certification in Career and Technical Education in 2010.
“These teachers and administrators completed vigorous training to meet standards that designate them as leaders in their specific areas,” Stamps said. “It is a testament to their dedication to the field of education and demonstrates they have expertise in these educational fields.
Stamps said she wanted to give a token of appreciation to her staff members who hold this certification during Team NBCT week to applaud them for their hard work. “We want everyone who walks by their office or classroom to be aware of this special certification so we presented them with plaques,” she said. “We are very proud to honor them for this accomplishment.”
