The Level Plains Police Department executed a search warrant in the 600 block of Faith Street at 6:10 a.m. on Feb. 9, according to LPPD Chief Ivan Keith Gray.
LPPD officers arrived at the residence and recovered eight animals. Upon further investigation officers discovered malnourished dogs, the skeletal remains of a dog and four animal carcasses, one of which was possibly being eaten by the other animals in the pen, according to Gray.
The LPPD charged Raymond Christopher Bryant with 11 counts of animal cruelty. Gray said that Bryant was brought back to the LPPD for interrogation and processing and has now been transported to the Dale County Jail.
Bryant is being held on $11,000 bond.
The recovered animals are being treated by a veterinarian in Daleville, according to Gray.
Gray thanked the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, Ozark Police Department’s Animal Control Division, Ozark Animal Shelter and Vanity Fur Animal Rescue for their assistance in the operation.
