Boldly Going Coffee Shop, an Enterprise staple for 10 years, fell under new ownership on July 1, 2019 to Lori and Craig Yerdon. Both Lori and Craig served in the United States Army and describe themselves as “military transplants,” a factor that has weighed heavily in their new business venture. After several stints living in the area over the course of their military careers, among many other places, Lori said Boldly Going was always her favorite coffee shop. She said since they bought an already very successful business, there wasn’t much they wanted to change. “We just put our own touches in it, both inside and out, since it was so successful when we got here,” she explained. “We love providing the space and the atmosphere where military from Fort Rucker can come and study. Some of our colleagues are military spouses, so we love being able to work with and mentor them as well.” Craig added with a laugh that several customers came up to them after they first bought it and said they couldn’t change the burritos or the coffee. The Yerdons have three children, and while one is set to graduate from Enterprise High School in 2021, the timing for their older two worked out for them to graduate from EHS as well. The family has lived in Enterprise continuously for five years now, which Craig said is the longest they’ve ever lived in one spot. “It’s a wonderful community to own a business,” he expressed, and Lori added that the support small businesses, theirs included, have received throughout the current ordeal has been “overwhelmingly humbling.” Employees Cali Marhevka, left, and Riley Koldenhoven prepare to serve customers waiting outside in their vehicles. Boldly Going Coffee offers unique coffees from around the world and freshly baked treats from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday though Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday by curbside pickup only.
