The Enterprise girls and boys tennis teams each opened their seasons Feb. 6 with wins against Opelika.
The Lady Cats won 7-2 thanks to solid play in singles and doubles despite some players missing time because of illness.
"We did amazingly well," EHS girls tennis coach Robyn Carr said. "(I am) very proud of our effort and determination. (We are) looking forward to a great season."
Mikaela Grubb won in straight sets at No. 1 singles, and No. 2 singles Sydney Smith also earned a victory.
No. 3 Ella Sawyer lost, but No. 4 Mary Rives Marques picked up a win.
No. 5 Mary Lewis Wells swept her match, and No. 6 Jordan McDonough also earned a sweep.
Alexis Sanders and Brianna Peterson won in extra singles play.
In doubles, Grubb and Smith won at No. 1, but No. 2 Sawyer and Wells lost. The third team of Marques and McDonough earned a victory.
Sanders and Peterson also won in extra doubles.
The Wildcats also opened with a 7-2 victory.
"I'm really proud of how the guys did tonight," EHS boys tennis coach Stephen Phillips said. "We were able to get everyone some playing time, including our young guys. It's always big to open up with a win and start the season off on the right foot, especially against a solid team like Opelika. We lost a singles and a doubles match, but both of those went to a tiebreaker and were really close."
No. 1 singles Jarrett Grubb and No. 2 singles Gage Anderson each swept their opponents.
Ayden Peterson won at No. 3 in a tiebreaker, and No. 4 Bailey Ragan also earned a victory.
Evan Pruett won at No. 5 in a tiebreaker, and No. 6 Carson Christian lost in a tiebreaker.
Mitchell Carr won in extra singles play.
In doubles, Anderson and Grubb won at No. 1, and No. Peterson and Pruett lost in a tiebreaker.
Christian and Ragan won at No. 3.
In extra doubles play, Alexander Nelson and Evan Stewart earned a victory.
Bradley Pouncey and Connor Morris also picked up a win.
