The Enterprise girls soccer team earned a 6-0 shutout March 3 against Lowndes, Georgia, after a good start on the attack.

"The first half, we were pretty pleased with our play," EHS soccer coach Jill Harrelson said. "The last 10 or 15 minutes of the second half, we just kind of looked sloppy. (We were) passing the ball too late right into the defenders' shin guards. Once you get to that defender, they cut your angle down. We've talked to the girls about (how) you've got to pass a step earlier or a second earlier. Otherwise, they're cutting down your passing lane. We didn't do well on that the last 10 or 15 minutes."

The first two goals were scored by Sydney Garth early in the match off of Tayler Parrott assists.

The Lady Cats took a 3-0 lead with 28:35 left In the first half on an own goal by Lowndes, which is officially credited to Jessi Andress.

"It kind of bounced around the box, came off of Jessi and went into their defender into the goal," Jill Harrelson said. "She gets credit for that one."

Morgan Harrelson put the fourth goal into the net after Lowndes took a goal kick.

Enterprise maintained its 4-0 lead at the half.

The Lady Cats added to their advantage with 34:42 left to play when Garth completed a hat trick on a breakaway.

After the Lady Vikings fouled Enterprise in the box with 30:24 to play, Amber Patch scored the final goal on a penalty kick after her sharp shot deflected off of the keeper and into the net.

The Lady Cat defense was also fast and solid in the game.

"We've got Khaiya (Bates) and Gaby (Hedgpeth) with the speed in the back," Jill Harrelson said. "I wish we'd have used it a little more the second half going back down to our corners and crossing, because that's what it's going to take against Prattville Tuesday."

Bailey Cameron and Breanna Amstutz combined for the clean sheet after each goalie spent a half in the net for the Lady Cats.

Enterprise's first Class 7A, Area 4 match of the year is March 7 against Prattville on the road.
