The Enterprise Lady Cats' basketball season ended Feb. 6 with a 47-21 loss against Jeff Davis in the first round of the Class 7A, Area 3 tournament.

"We struggled to score," EHS girls basketball coach Jeffrey Keller said. "When you score 21 points, that's pretty evident."

Jeff Davis led 9-2 at the end of the first quarter and 16-9 at the half.

JDHS earned multiple shot opportunities, which Keller said hurt Enterprise.

"In the first half, of their 16 points, I would guess probably eight to 10 of their points were on second-chance opportunities," he said. "They did a good job of really hurting us on the glass. They just drove the ball to the basket, and we struggled to score. That was really...kind of how the game went."

The Lady Volunteers scored 19 points in the third quarter and took a 35-17 advantage into the fourth quarter.

"In the first two and a half quarters, I felt like we had a lot of opportunities," Keller said. "We just couldn't cash in on them."

Valencia Spann led Enterprise with eight points in the game.

The Lady Cats finished the season with a 4-19 overall record.

"I think they've laid the foundation," Keller said. "When you lose a couple of people you weren't expecting to lose, you basically have to lay a new foundation. There's a lot of things they've learned during the course of the year about how to attack things that may be thrown their way. For the most part, I thought we grew as a team defensively. You're laying the foundation as far as, 'This is how you're going to have to attack these things.' I think the next step would be just learning how to execute, learning...the fundamentals of the game (and) just taking that next step as far as understanding the importance of that so you can execute those things you know how to execute."
