The Daleville baseball team competed, but lost 8-5 against Wicksburg.
"Today's game was the best game we've played overall, actually the best series," Daleville baseball coach Brien Sullivan said. "(We) played very aggressive and competed."
The Warhawks took the lead in the first inning.
Ryan Warren singled and later scored to give Daleville a 1-0 lead.
Wicksburg took a 2-1 lead after a two-run double in its half of the first.
The Panthers scored four runs in the second on an error, a walk and two singles to take a 6-1 lead.
Daleville answered with two runs in the third after Warren walked, Remple doubled and both came home on a sacrifice fly to left by Bryce Souders.
Wicksburg scored its final two runs on an RBI groundout and an RBI single in the fourth.
Remple pitched a complete game for the Hawks and struck out one.
Daleville scored twice in the fifth on an RBI single by Souders and a steal by Remple, but the Warhawks couldn't complete the rally.
"With the way the guys played today, it built momentum for the games next week," Sullivan said. "Our goal is to end the season with wins."
