The Enterprise girls soccer team narrowly lost a Class 7A, Area 3 match March 13 4-3 against Prattville.

The Lady Lions scored late in the match on a quick corner kick to win.

"Some teams take a long time to set up a corner," EHS girls soccer coach Jill Harrelson said. "When they got a corner, they didn't give anybody any time. As soon as he called corner they kicked it. We weren't set up. That's just something we've got to do better, especially if you know a team is going to do that. It was the second corner they had done like a quick corner. We stopped the first one, but then that happened."

The Lady Lions wasted little time the entire match, and took the lead in the first minute.

"They had the ball first, kicked it all the way back to their back line deep and spread us out," Harrelson said. "They sent a long ball. They've got a girl who's really fast. They got us spread out and just off guard that first minute."

Sydney Garth scored Enterprise's first goal on an assist from Hannah Marie Eddins.

It was the only goal the Lady Cats managed in the first half, and they trailed 3-1 at the break.

"We did not play (well) the first half," Harrelson said. "(We) gave away two goals."

The Lady Cats played well in the second half, when Harrelson said they ramped up their intensity.

"We picked up the intensity," she said. "We were more aggressive. (We) moved to the ball for the pass instead of waiting on it. We just kind of picked up the level of play."

Jessi Andress found the net after an assist from Amber Patch, who took a corner kick.

Andress also scored Enterprise's final goal after an assist from Kassidy Taylor.

Prattville's urgency was something Harrelson said taught the Lady Cats a lesson.

"We've got to be awake and aware at all times," she said. "Nothing they did was illegal as far as those corners, but you've just got to be aware of your surroundings and get your team out there. As a coach you can holler, but they can't always hear you, especially with weather and stuff like that. It's just something as a whole team we've got to adjust to and see what's going on."
