The Enterprise girls golf team was tied for eighth place in a 20-team March Madness tournament hosted by Hoover after the first day of play March 13 at the Hoover Country Club.

"The conditions were tough," EHS golf coach Rex Bynum said. "It was cold, and raining a little bit."

The Lady Cats shot a 272 and tied with Mountain Brook.

Emilia Smith shot an 83 to lead Enterprise. Kailey Powell shot a 94, and Ashley Sinclair-Curtis finished with a 95 total.

Spain Park lead with a 230 after the first day.

Play will conclude Tuesday at Bent Brook Golf Course.
