The Enterprise Lady Cats won a tournament title March 18 at the McGill-Toolen Catholic Invitational.

The Enterprise girls soccer team won the McGill-Toolen Catholic Invitational March 18 after a 4-2 victory against Albertville in the tournament championship.

"I think it gives our team a lot of confidence," EHS girls soccer coach Jill Harrelson said. "It provides them with evidence that if we pass well, play physical, play team ball, and have a great attitude and effort that we can compete with anyone  we play."

The Lady Cats lost to Albertville on the first day of the tournament so they knew the threat their opponent posed.

"We knew they had a great keeper and that we were going to have to pass really well," Jill Harrelson said. "We had to get her moving in one direction and make a small pass to slip one by her."

Albertville's keeper tried to deflect a shot by Gabby Hedgpeth away from the net, but the shot went in instead and EHS had a 1-0 lead.

"A ball bounced out of the box and center defender Gabby Hedgpeth was able to get off a great shot," Jill Harrelson said. "It went into the net off of a punch from the goalie. It was just too hard for her to handle."

Sydney Garth scored the next goal after a cross from Corinna Jones, and Garth gave the Lady Cats a 3-0 lead when she scored after a pass from Jordan Colacicco.

Our next goal came off a great Cross from Corinna Jones to Sydney Garth. Next Sydney Garth scored again from a great pass from Jordan Colacicco.

Albertville then found the net to cut Enterprise's lead to 3-1, where it was at the half.

Albertville scored early in the second half on a penalty kick after EHS was whistled for a handball in the box.

Garth completed a hat trick for the final Enterprise goal when she put a pass from Morgan Harrelson into the net.

"We were very determined to win this game after losing to them on Friday," Jill Harrelson said. We felt like we shouldn't have lost to them on Friday. We just didn't finish our shots on Friday. We had great team effort. (I am) very pleased with the effort from our team, especially playing four games in 24 hours."

Enterprise reached the final by way of a 4-1 win against Providence in the semifinal in its first match of the day.

The Lady Eagles struck first, however, after Enterprise was called for a handball in the box and PCS hit the penalty kick to take a 1-0 advantage.

Morgan Harrelson tied the match 1-1 on a shot after what Jill Harrelson said was a "long cross" by Colacicco.

"The first 20 minutes we did not connect our passes consistently," she said. "After we scored and tied it up we settled down and began to control the possession of the ball. (It was a) great team effort."

Mercedes Tran scored on an an assist from Amber Patch to give them he Lady Cats a 2-1 lead, which they carried into halftime.

Garth scored a pair of goals on a pair of assists from Jessi Andress in the second half to build the 4-1 advantage.  Bailey Cameron played the first half in goal for EHS and recorded a save.

Breanna Amstutz played the second half in the net and made four saves.

(It was a) great team effort for an 8:30 a.m. game," Jill Harrelson said. "Providence was a lot more physical than they have been in the past and (has) shown great improvement."
