Five officials from the Greater Enterprise Basketball Association (GEBA), based out of Enterprise, have been selected to officiate games during the AHSAA Regional Tournament in Dothan this month.
This is the first time the association has had five officials selected to officiate the regional games during the same season/year.
The officials are Gary Waters, Lister Reeves, James Parris, Sonny Scyphers and Ronnie Burnette. They were selected based on their performance during the season and ratings/recommendations received from the Southeast District Director.
βTo have this many officials from a small association like GEBA selected is humbling, and it goes to show that the hard work the officials put in during the year is worthwhile,β GEBA President Ronnie Burnette said. βI have a lot of young officials in the association, and I want them to see that if they keep working hard that they will have an opportunity to officiate at the regionals and hopefully state championships one day.β
