Taking a look at my learning experience

I like to think of myself as a life learner. I fully believe that a person should never stop learning as long as they live, whether that means learning about oneself or about the world around them.

People learn whatever they learn in different ways. Some can learn by hearing a lesson or physically doing the learning.

In an academic sense, it took me five years to graduate with my bachelor’s degree, which seemed like quite a while before I held that diploma in my hands.

During this time, I sat in a classroom, wrote down what I was supposed to learn (if I felt like it) and learned about a variety of topics.

In a different sense, I completed my master’s degree in about two years, and I never set foot in a classroom, unless my living room counts.

The point is, people learn differently and in different settings.

I’m out of school now, but that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped learning. It’s just that lately, the knowledge I’m learning is more personal or practical.

Practically, I have recently learned how to do some minor maintenance on my new(ish) car. Believe me, I do a little dance of happiness when I realize that there is something that I can do to fix small problems with my car.

I also learn more and more about finances and life each and every day. Not the most exciting lessons to learn, but if you want to feel like an adult, doing taxes can definitely do that.

Personally, I have taken the steps to learn more about my personal health. As a result of this, I am learning how to change my lifestyle to a healthier one, including cooking different foods and learning how to turn off Netflix.

I may not be learning about Shakespeare or physics, but I am learning, which is the point.

We start to learn from the time we’re born. As babies and children, we learn from those around us and by ourselves, taking in our environments.

As adults, learning can be whatever you want it to be, though it’s usually a bit more focused version of how we learn as children.

What’s cool about the world is, you can learn whatever you want to learn at any given moment.

Read up on the latest news and see if you can remember what your high school civics or government teacher taught you about our country.

That new bestseller everyone is talking about? Read it, analyze it and see if you can connect to it and understand it.

The world is changing. New information is constantly being spit out to the masses, and it may be fun to learn it.

Even if you never use your knowledge for anything life-changing, you may have changed your life learning it.
