Christy Leigh Edwards, 49, of Enterprise, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Midtown Medical Center Piedmont in Columbus, Ga.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Daniel and Rev. Ryan Martin officiating. Prior to the service, lunch will be provided for the family beginning at noon at the church. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory directing. A private family viewing will be held at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, after which time the family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to S.O.S. Animal Shelter, 25944 Hwy 84, Enterprise, AL 36330 or the charity of your choice.

Christy was born Dec. 29, 1968, in Mobile. She was a graduate of Central York High School in York, Penn., and a summa cum laude graduate of Auburn University in Auburn, where she earned a B.S. in psychology. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Mo., graduating summa cum laude. She served her residency in family medicine at Sun Coast Hospital in Clearwater, Fa. Christy was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Greek Sorority and a member of P.E.O., Chapter T, Birmingham.

She was a loving wife, mother, and her husband, Ward’s best friend. Her passion for breeding, raising, and training Trakehner, Warm Blood and Thoroughbred horses was superseded only by her devotion to her patients’ care at the Medical Center Enterprise where she was an emergency room physician. She enjoyed watching her boys play football and her daughter ride horses in competitions in which she herself participated.

Survivors include her husband, Ward Edwards; sons,Trey Edwards and Logan Edwards; daughter, Aspen Edwards, all of Enterprise; parents, Wade and Shirley Paramore of Hoover; grandmother, Frances Graham of Brundidge; and brother, Jason Paramore (Rose Mary) of Newton, Ga.
