Enterprise brothers Conner and Caleb Richey, who were recently featured in the November issue of Reader’s Digest, spoke to the Enterprise High School Interact Club recently about their experience at the scene of an accident in front of their home two years ago.
The training they learned through the Boy Scouts and the military “kicked in” and enabled them to possibly save a life in this instance, they told the group.
The brothers stressed the importance of being prepared, having a first aid kit and other supplies available and not assuming that someone else is calling 911.
In situations where seconds count, being able to calmly relay information to rescue personnel to let them know what they will face upon arrival is critical, they said.
The Interact Club members voted to check into dates in an effort for members to participate in CERT training through the Coffee County Emergency Management Program.
Club members brought food for the local food pantry to the meeting. Members also signed up to volunteer at the food pantry, help with the Special Needs Christmas Party and the Christmas Parade.
