The man accused of robbing Community Bank and Trust on Dec. 12, 2011 and The Citizens Bank in 2010, waived his right to a formal arraignment May 30 and filed a plea of not guilty.
However, according to reports, during Smith's bond hearing via video conference with District Judge Paul Sherling, Smith informed Sherling that he "did not use any form of weapon when I (Smith) did CB&T."
After his arrest, during questioning, assistant district attorney Chris Kaminski said Smith admitted in his statement to The Citizens Bank robbery, telling investigators, "that was just practice."
The statement came after Sherling informed Smith of his rights, including his right to remain silent.
Smith has been charged with first-degree robbery and faces the same charge for the February 2010 attempted robbery of The Citizens Bank drive-up window.
According to reports, Smith left CB&T with $8,000, of which, $1,700 was recovered by police.
