Hundreds of little rock stars roamed the halls of Windham Elementary School Nov. 1 after a country/rock concert in the Daleville City Schools gymnasium.
To mark the end of Red Ribbon Week, Windham Elementary School students, teachers and staff banded together, dressed in all red, and attended a concert by Shane Owens and the Legendary 231 South Band.
The “Band Against Drugs” rally featured special guests SpectraBear, members of the Coalition for a Drug Free Dale County, Daleville Police Chief Harvey Mathis, school resource officer Sgt. Levi Dahlquist and a special one hour performance from the local country/rock band.
To commemorate Red Ribbon Week, students danced and ran away from drugs, homeroom classes decorated its doors with drug-free themes, and all students signed a pledge to be drug free.
"Red Ribbon Week is something celebrated in October, but it's really something we work on year round," Christopher Mitten, Windham Elementary School principal, said. "This is just the culmination of a great week of activities to try to motivate our students to be successful and stay drug free."
