Ceremonies honoring the service of veterans near and far were hosted throughout the community during the past week.

Local communities and organizations joined millions across the United States to honor the selfless sacrifice that our nation’s military members have made and continue to give each day.

Veterans were celebrated with parades, honored with wreaths, moments of silence and remembered with gatherings at local monuments constructed in memory of their sacrifice and in recognition of their bravery.

So many service members and veterans call the Wiregrass home and are active members of the community through organizations like the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.

Their service to the country and the freedoms they protected and continue to protect are in this community’s hearts, not just on Veterans Day, but every day.
