The Daleville High School football team ended its 2013 season with a 32-17 win against Samson Thursday night.

The first quarter of the game ended with both teams unable to find the end zone, but Samson kicked a 30-yard field goal in the first play of the second quarter to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead.

Daleville wasn’t too far behind on the scoreboard when the DeMarcus Flowers ran for a 35-yard touchdown to put the Warhawks ahead 6-3.

Samson bounced back on its next possession though when the Tigers scored on an 11-yard run. The touchdown put Samson in the lead again 10-6.

The Tigers furthered their lead to 17-6 on a 23 touchdown pass.

The score remained at 17-6 at halftime.

The Warhawks scored on their first possession of the second half when Flowers ran the ball for 34 yards into the end zone. Daleville successfully attempted a two-point conversion to take the Warhawks within three points (17-14) of Samson.

Daleville gained the lead in the game again on its next possession when Flowers slipped through the Tigers’ defense and scored on a 15-yard run. The touchdown gave Daleville a 20-17 advantage.

In the fourth quarter, the Warhawks scored on their opening possession when quarterback Jonathan Pittman ran for a 33-yard touchdown to give Daleville a 26-17 lead.

The Warhawks weren’t finished, however, and Labrijian Bloodsaw tallied a 7-yard touchdown run to put Daleville ahead 32-17.

Daleville finished its season with a record of 5-5 and did not make the playoffs.
